IVF and ICSI in Ukraine

IVF (in vitro fertilization) is the most effective method of getting pregnant for infertile couples. It may solve the problems associated with poor fallopian tubes patency, poor quality or small number of sperm cells, endometriosis, etc. IVF is the process of artificial crossing of an ovule with a sperm cell outside the mother's body. If the insemination is successful, the embryo is transferred to the uterine cavity in 2-5 days after cultivation. According to statistics, the probability of pregnancy is 30-35% per 1 attempt of IVF.

A full cycle of IVF takes approx. 1.5-2 months from examination till pregnancy results.

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) differs from IVF by the insemination way. During IVF all the spermatozoa are being added into the test tube with the oocytes, while during ICSI the best sperm cell first selected is inserted directly into the cytoplasm of the ovule cell under the microscope by means of special tools. Thus, it is possible to achieve fertilization in approx. 80% of cases. The probability of pregnancies is approx. 30-35% per 1 attempt in ICSI method.

Donation of ovules (donation of oocytes)

Donation of oocytes (ovule donation) is a method of treating infertility in women whose ovaries are absent or do not produce their own ovules, or in cases of poor embryo quality, also when is the risk of transferring hereditary diseases.

Pregnancy is achieved with the help of IVF with the use of donor ovules, which are obtained from a healthy female donor. Fertilizing happens through a donor ovules with the husband's sperm in a test tube and the resulting embryos are transferred to the uterine cavity by the infertile female recipient.

Donorship of sperm is using the donor’s sperm for artificial insemination or IVF when there are specific medical indications. It is a chance for couples to become parents in case the man is infertile or has hereditary diseases. Surrogacy in Ukraine

Surrogacy is a method or agreement whereby a woman (surrogate mother) agrees to carry a pregnancy of genetically foreign child for another person or persons (genetic parents), who will become the newborn child's parent(s) after birth. Sometimes it may be the only chance to become parents for couples, and have their biological child.

There are four options of surrogacy:

•            using wife’s ovule and husband's sperm

•            using wife’s ovule and donor’s sperm

•            using donor’s ovule and husband's sperm

•            using surrogate mother’s ovule and husband's sperm of a couple. Then the surrogate mother should meet a number of demands starting from physical characteristics up to the absence of hereditary diseases.
